If you’re going to include a celebrity impression as part of your stand-up set, best to make sure the celebrity in question isn’t in attendance. At least that is the lesson comedian Red Grant should take away from his recent experience at the Comedy Store in Hollywood when he was confronted on stage by Drake for his sub-par Drizzy impersonation.
The encounter, as can be witnessed in the audience-shot videos below, is actually rather good natured despite Drake’s initial outburst of, “What the f**k impression is that? Who is that?”. Commenting further on Grant’s attempt he adds, “That was like some Omarion, Chris Brown together s**t. That’s not me, man.”
The Future Music Festival headliner has a pretty decent comedic repertoire, having previously hosted Saturday Night Live where he dropped some of his own impressions of celebrities such as Lil Wayne and poked fun at himself in a segment for Jimmy Kimmel Live.
More recently Drake posted a series of Instagram posts in which he gets his mum to explain why people think he cries a lot. Suffice to say any Australian comedians wanting to take on a Drizzy impersonation better work on their technique before his maiden voyage here in a few months.
