Arcade Fire played a headline set at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans over the weekend, and although they didn’t premiere any new music there was no shortage of surprises during their set.
During their Voodoo performance, Will Butler and Co. churned out 19-tracks from of the band’s extensive catalogue, and also surprised fans towards the end of the with a mashup of their 2004 hit Rebellion and the original Ghostbusters Theme.
More significantly though, Butler took a moment to ask the audience, “do you guys wanna be on a record?” He then sang a melody to the crowd and asked them to sing it back to him so that it could be recorded.
Unsurprisingly, the crowd were only too pleased to belt out the tune.
Just a day earlier, the band played an intimate surprise show full of new music, but confiscated all attendee’s mobile phones to prevent fan footage from surfacing.
Check out all the action below.
