Watch An Entire Irish Pub Sing Along To The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’ At Their Friend’s Wake

Sometimes, a pop song hits a collective nerve so deep that something beautiful happens.

Such a thing occurred in Ireland’s County Kerry last week, where friends were mourning the death of their friend Ger ‘Farmer’ Foley at local pub Falvey’s Bar.

The group of mourners – and namely one Brian O’Sullivan – emotionally sang along to The Killers‘ 2004 hit Mr Brightside in honour of their passed friend, and a video of the whole thing has gone full viral.

The Killers themselves have even posted their joyful support of the video, tweeting that O’Sullivan could replace Brandon Flowers as the lead singer of the band any day.

“Brian O’Sullivan, if Brandon ever needs a fill-in, we’re calling you!,” they tweeted. “May we all have friends like this #farmersrule.”

Before leading the sing-along from atop the bar, Mr O’Sullivan said to the crowd: “He was the salt of the earth, he will never be replaced and we will remember him forever in our lives. I think that the most appropriate song that you can get for this man is Mr. Brightside.”

Peter Teahan, who filmed one of the vids, said: “Brian was a good friend of Ger’s, and that was one of Ger’s favourite songs, so he got everyone going.”

“Most people in the area knew Ger, he was very popular. It was a very good send-off for him,” he said.

Ger Foley died at the age of 45 from cystic fibrosis.
