Vengaboys Announce Australian Tour Dates
Written by Mike Hohnen on 8th November, 2012
Vengaboys, the band who really needs no introduction, have taken a shining to our little country. Having toured here only at the start of this year, the 90's sensations have announced that they will be making the trip again in 2013, this time for the Bussing To The Beach 2013 tour.
It’s strange to think that a band finds more traction in Australia now than they ever did in the 90s, but I digress. Just the mention of some of the Amsterdam-based pop giants tracks is enough to bring back not only so many memories but also every word to the song. Boom Boom Boom and We Like to Party (The Vengabus is Coming). There, you can now blame me for getting those tracks stuck in your head.
The brilliant thing about this particular 90's resurgence act is that Vengaboys know that they are just that. Coming down for a good time, the cheesy pop, awful dance moves are all flaunted with genuine enthusiasm of a band who have already made their mark. There’s not a strand of pretentiousness to be found amongst Vengaboys, they just want to party with us!
Joining them on the trip down will be Dutch contemporaries Twenty 4 Seven. Who is Twenty 4 Seven you ask? Maybe if I mention a very, very highly rotated ditty called Slave to the Music. That might ring song bells. Twenty 4 Seven were the masterminds behind the track, which kicked on for many years after through several remixes.
A whole bunch of their shows sold out last time, so there’s clearly something worth going to see about Vengaboys.
