Triple J Unveil Hottest 100 2013 Teasers

Following the release of Queensland online marketer Nick Drewe‘s Warmest 100 list, the folks at Triple J have now released some stats about 2013's highly-anticipated Hottest 100 so readers can do their own fact-checking. According to the stats, Aussies reigned supreme in 2013.

For its 21st year as an Australian institution, 44 of the final poll spots have been taken up by Aussie artists, following 1,492,619 votes cast by 173,658 music fans in 169 countries around the world, coming in just under last year’s record-breaking turnout of 187,975 voters and 1,516,765 votes.

42 of the songs will be from artists appearing in the Hottest 100 for the first time, with Lorde, Vance Joy, The Preatures, Haim, FIDLAR, and London Grammar all likely to be making their debuts this Australia Day, while May was the month in which the most Hottest 100 tracks were released.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis topped the 2012 poll with Thrift Shop, followed by Of Monsters & Men‘s Little Talks, Alt-J‘s Breezeblocks, Flume‘s Holdin On, and previous winners Mumford & Sons with I Will Wait. Gotye was on top in 2011, with Angus & Julia Stone winning in 2010.

The best way to find out who made the Hottest 100 is of course to tune in to the countdown on Australia Day, that’s Sunday, 26th January, from midday AEDT. Queensland residents should switch on at 11am, 11:30am in South Australia, 10:30am in the Northern Territory, and 9:00am in WA.
