Written by John Ritchie on 17th December, 2012
Tomahawk have just announced 2 Soundwave Festival Sidewaves, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney (see dates below). The band will be playing live for the first time since 2003 on the back of their upcoming release Oddfellows, which is due out in January 2013.
Tomahawk was formed when Mike Patton and ex-The Jesus Lizard guitar player Duane Denison started swapping tapes in 2000. They released their self-titled debut in 2001, followed by Mit Gas in 2003 and Anonymous in 2007. They released a limited edition vinyl box set Eponymous to Anonymous in early 2012 before camping out at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye studios in Nashville with Collin Dupuis to record Oddfellows.
Tomahawk is Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard, Unsemble, etc) Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas, etc) and John Stanier (Helmet, Battles, etc) and this time around joined by Trevor “Field Mouse” Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc).
