Adelaide rhyme-spitter Tkay Maidza has just dropped the flippin’ motherload. The rap kween has announced all of the things, including the imminent arrival of her long-awaited debut album, which shall be dubbed simply TKAY (all caps y’all) and is set for release on Friday, 28th October.
From the sounds of things, the album is packing a helluva lot of collabs, including one with US hip-hop ledge and one half of Run The Jewels Killer Mike. We know this because Tkay has just released the song, it’s called Carry On and it’s a percussive head-nodder with a catchy-ass schoolyard chant-style chorus.
“[Carry On] is kind of about me going through troubles and [Mike] acts as a big brother, which is really cool,” Tkay tells triple j.
The hip-hop pocket rocket is about to head off on a tour of the US with her pal What So Not, who apparently also features on her new album. “There’s something something on the album that is a What So Not song that hasn’t been heard,” she says.
Wrap your ears around Carry On below.
