Thrash Metal Meets Cheese In This Slayer Pizza

A US chef has combined two of his passions – thrash metal and culinary experimentation – to delicious results and has presented onto the world the Slayer pizza, insisting it must only be consumed Piece By Piece.

Chef John Hurkes‘ pentagram-shaped thrashterpiece draws inspiration from Slayer’s iconic 1986 album, Reign In Blood and, as he notes in food and music blog Rice and Bread, the two should be paired for the ultimate dining experience.

Whether you’re a fan of the thrash metal vanguards or simply a pizza lover, the ingredient list is sure to impress. The Slayer pizza is made up of italian salamis “soppressata” and “finocchiona”, a “Cypress Grove Lamb Chopper cheese” and features a “house marinara” sauce.

“The flour was stone ground from 350 communion wafers and kneaded together on an altar of sacrifice,” explains Hurkes in the recipe. The sadistic feast’s piece de resistance is the light splattering of “raining blood”, known to those in the culinary world as “altar wine gastrique.”

“As the pizza is sliced and Angel of Death is unleashed, you will scream along with the first taste,” continues Hurkes. “It should take just under 30 minutes to finish, and with six and a half years worth of communion bread servings you might want to share it with your friends.”
