The Strokes “Toiling And Writing” For 2014 “Return To The Scene”

If The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. expected his bandmates to promote his solo EP without an agenda, well, he was wrong, as The Strokes have piggybacked a fan send out to announce they have plans to “return to the scene” in 2014.

In an email to the band’s mailing list, fans were met with a message informing them that “while The Strokes are toiling and writing, looking at 2014 for a return to the scene, Albert Hammond Jr. has been busy on his solo EP.” Cheeky.

The band dropped their most recent album Comedown Machine just earlier this year, but after it was revealed by bassist Nikolai Fraiture that the band had no plans to tour the album, the release lost a whole lotta steam.

Discussing the current climate within the band, Hammond Jr stated that there could be “10 more Strokes albums” in the future, however:

“There might be times when we’re not doing things but I don’t feel like we’ll ever stop. We’ve come to the point where we’ve been together so long and been through so much that why announce anything besides what we’re doing? We’re just together.”

Titled AHJ, Hammond Jr’s eagerly anticipated EP is set to be a combination of his first two releases Yours To Keep and ¿Cómo Te Llama? Says Hammond Jr of the new record “It’s a combination of both previous recordings, which in turn makes it feel like it’s the best material that I’ve made so far.”
