Australia’s biggest pop culture expo adds new celebrity guests

Australia’s premier pop culture expo, Supanova, has announced new Supa-Star celebrity guests for their upcoming events on the Gold Coast (April 5 & 6) and in Melbourne (April 12 & 13). They are:

  • Michael Rooker : stars as ‘Merle Dixon’ in the cult TV zombie hit The Walking Dead and as ‘Yondu’ in the upcoming Marvel feature film, Guardians of the Galaxy;
  • Emmanuelle Vaugier : ‘The Morrigan’ in Lost Girl, ‘Dr. Helen Bryce’ in Smallville, ‘FBI Special Agent Emma Barnes’ inHuman Target, ‘Addison Corday’ in Saw II and Saw IV, ‘Mia’ in Two and a Half Men;
  • Ron Glass : Best known to Supanova fans as ‘Shepherd Book’ from Joss Whedon’s Firefly and Serenity and has recently guest-starred in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.;
  • Mark Hadlow : ‘Dori’ the Dwarf from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Trilogy; and
  • William Kircher : ‘Bifur’ the Dwarf from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Trilogy.

Emmanuelle Vaugier replaces her Lost Girl colleague Rachel Skarsten, who has had to postpone her Australian appearance due to an unexpected alteration to her production schedule. Gethin Anthony of Game of Thrones has also postponed his expo appearance due to being cast in a season of Tennessee Williams’ short plays in London.

The Supanova Expo was established in 2002 in Sydney as a completely home-grown Australian production showcasing sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, animé, manga, games and much more. Run by a diverse and passionate team of independent professionals with backgrounds in private industry and the creative sector, Supanova has expanded to six cities (the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane). Supanova is now Australia’s premier event of its kind, with over 160,000 fans attending in 2013.

International pop-culture celebrities come to Supanova to meet fans, give behind-the-scenes talks, pose for portraits and sign autographs at the family-friendly expos.
