The Drones have announced they will be embarking on the I See Seaweed Tour across Australia during the month of April. Playing some of Australia’s most recognised venues, The Drones’ tour will conclude in the most iconic venue of all, The Sydney Opera House.
The upcoming dates will be the first headlining tour from The Drones in 2 years, with the tour title coming from the band’s upcoming album I See Seaweed, due out Friday, 1st March. The tour will be supported by special guests King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard.
Head of Contemporary Music at Sydney Opera House, Ben Marshall expressed his excitement to have The Drones performing in the Opera House’s Concert Hall:
“I’m very proud to program The Drones’ first headline appearance at the Opera House. I think they’re a genuinely magnificent live act and the latest link in Australia’s internationalist, high-quality chain of significant, slightly ornery artists that connects Nick Cave’s work, The Triffids, The Go-Betweens, The Church, The Necks & The Dirty Three et al.”
Along with All Tomorrow’s Parties, The Drones helped curate the recently concluded I’ll Be Your Mirror festival in Melbourne. Responsible for the Sunday line-up of the 2-day event, The Drones managed to reform the original Beasts Of Bourbon and bring Einstürzende Neubauten to Australia for their first show since 1991.
