The Chemical Brothers Share New Single ‘Go’, Featuring Q-Tip

Dance innovators The Chemical Brothers have finally shared Go, the Q-Tip-featuring lead single from their forthcoming eighth studio album. What’s more, they’ve given the track a typically robotic music video.

Rapper and producer Q-Tip, well-known for his stint with hip hop collective A Tribe Called Quest, previously worked on The Chemical Brothers’ hit single Galvanize. Go couples his verses with a propulsive bass line and some big electro choruses.

Tom Rowlands, one half of The Chemical Brothers, told triple j this morning that he and his partner in crime, Ed Simons, knew that Go would suit Q-Tip. “He’s got a unique voice and the way he flows on top of a groove like that is amazing,” Rowlands said.

“When we were working on the record – this song in particular – it’s when we came up with the groove that we really imagined him on it and felt that it’s a very different track to Galvanize. We sort of resisted [the idea] for a bit but he was just a voice that we both really imagined on the track and we went out to New York and hung out with him and it was just amazing.”

The song’s music video (below) was directed by Michel Gondry, who also worked on The Chemical Brothers’ Star Guitar and Let Forever Be videos.

Go appears on The Chemical Brothers’ new album Born In The Echoes, which was announced last week alongside album opener Sometimes I Feel So Deserted. Aside from the talents of Q-Tip, the album also features the likes of St Vincent, Beck and Cate Le Bon.
