The album, which will follow up from where the super-successful El Camino left off, has been confirmed for an early 2013 genesis, and as guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach tells it, it will be all hands on deck come January.
“Late January is when we’re going to record. We never really rehearse or practice before we get into the studio. We’ll just get in there and see what happens,” Auerbach told Rolling Stone.
He added that there will be no shortage of new material, “I’ve been writing every day, but I never know what’s going to be a song we use or not, you know.”
The album sure as hell has big shoes to fill, with its older brother garnering the pair 5 Grammy nominations. Auerbach spoke of the thrill that comes with such accolades, as well as seeing fellow collaborator Dr. John’s name up in lights: “I’m excited about all of them. The producer one was a real shock to me. I was just really, really happy for Mac [Dr. John] to get nominated. I was texting with him last night. He’s excited.”?
It’s believed that the band’s crazy touring commitments have hindered the recording process, though once they wrap up the remainder of their shows with The Vaccines throughout the UK, it’s studio time.
