The Basics Announce Tour For September/October

After a three-year hiatus Melbourne trio The Basics are back together again and gearing up to hit the road for a string of Australian tour dates over the months of September and October.

During their three years apart each member of the The Basics has an interesting story to tell. Tim Heath has been busily working on the film The Rise and Rise of Richard Latté, Wally De Backer found himself adorned with Australian music-god status off the back of his success with solo project Gotye, and Kris Schroeder has some interesting stories to tell from his travels in Kenya.

With four studio albums up their sleeves the band’s career spans over a decade during which they have built a strong cult following. Additional international kudos was also gained when a collection of their tracks appeared on US programs such as Californication and Scrubs.

Speaking on the tour Wally De Backer commented that he was looking forward to moving back into a smaller and more organic live setting:

“It’s been a great challenge nutting out how to bring a large band, visuals and studio compositions together for the Gotye live shows over the last two years… But right now I’m looking forward to getting sweaty behind the drums and playing rock ‘n’ roll in these fab clubs with my brothers Kris and Tim.”

The Basics will be touring off the back of their new single So Hard For You and you can be sure that the gritty live sound we’ve come to love from the guys is alive and well.
