The Avalanches’ Next Album Is Being Mixed Right Now

After Avalanches collaborator Jennifer Herrema revealed in June that the long-awaited second album from the Melbourne sample magicians could be completed in just weeks time, it now appears that the album is deep in the mixing stage – another very, very good sign that we’ll have a new Avalanches record by the end of 2014.

According to The Music, The Avalanches are currently mixing their new full-length studio effort in Melbourne’s Sing Sing studios. The publication claims that during a recent studio tour, which took place as part of the annual Leaps & Bounds Music Festival, a studio guide mentioned that the band have been mixing their album within the studio walls for “three or four months now”.

As luck would have it The Avalanches were reportedly having a day off when the tour group passed through and so no new material was overheard. The Avalanches released their well-received debut album Since I Left You in 2000, which was also mixed at Sing Sing studios.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that one of the group’s founding members, Darren Seltmann, is no longer part of the band. A representative from Modular Recordings also added that the new Avalanches album “sounds awesome”.

Astral People’s musical alumni gathered together to perform The Avalanches’ hit songs Since I Left You and Frontier Psychiatrist in Music Feeds Studio late last year. Check out the footage, below.

The Avalanches’ last official piece of new material came in the form of a remix of the Hunters & Collectors track Talking To A Stranger.
