Taylor Swift Pursues Legal Action Against Blog That Compared Her To Hitler

Taylor Swift’s legal team is pursuing action against a small blog called PopFront for likening her to Adolf Hitler.

The Northern California wing of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) reports that Swift and her team sent a letter to the blog’s editor Meghan Herning which claimed that a piece that Herning wrote recently was defamatory and that it should be taken down.

The article in question, written on September 5th, is titled ‘Swiftly to the alt-right: Taylor subtly gets the lower case kkk in formation’, and discusses the way that white supremacists have embraced Swift in the US.

Herning’s piece also claims that Swift’s song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ defends white privilege also displays an image of Swift next to an image of Hitler.

“Many on the alt-right see the song as part of a ‘re-awakening’, in line with Trump’s rise,” says Herning. “At one point in the accompanying music video, Taylor lords over an army of models from a podium, akin to what Hitler had in Nazis Germany. The similarities are uncanny and unsettling.”

The ACLU have now become directly involved in the case on behalf of Herning, sending an open letter to Swift’s representatives claiming that their class action is “a completely unsupported attempt to suppress constitutionally protected speech.”
