Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett & More Land Early 2015 ARIA Award Nominations

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has announced its first batch of ARIA Award nominations for 2015, with acts like Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett and Hermitude picking up early nods.

With this year’s Fine Arts and Artisan Award nominations now official, the Engineer of the Year Award category sees Tame Impala frontman Kevin Park up for the gong for his band’s latest effort, Currents. Parker is also up for the Producer Of The Year Award for the album, alongside Hermitude’s Luke Dubber and Angus Stuart, who are nominated for their album Dark Night Sweet Light.

In the Best Cover Art category, singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett is nominated for the artwork on her debut album Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, which she drew herself, while rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are the coolest cats nominated in the Best Jazz Album category for their jazzy full-length effort Quarters!.

Other early 2015 ARIA Award nominations have gone to engineers, producers and artists who worked on albums by the likes of Daniel Johns, Gang Of Youths, The Waifs and Flight Facilities. Catch the full list of nominees, below.

The 2015 ARIA Fine Arts and Artisan Award winners will be announced at the ARIA Awards Nomination Event on Wednesday, 7th October, before the 2015 ARIA Awards take place on Thursday, 26th November. Nominees for all other 2015 ARIA Awards are yet to be announced.

The 2014 ARIA Awards were dominated by Adelaide singer-songwriter Sia and Melbourne producer extraordinaire Chet Faker. Relive last year’s winners in the gallery below.
