St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2014 Lineup Announced

The lineup announcement for one of the punters’ most beloved events – Laneway Festival 2014, has been announced, with the organisers keeping with the typical Aussie festival MO, taking to triple j‘s The Tom and Alex Show to reveal the massive lineup for their 2014 event.

The appearance of Glasgow synth-pop trio CHVRCHES was a foregone conclusion, having confirmed their spot at the festival during an interview back in August. It took a few phone calls to festival organisers to get it out of them, but they soon confirmed the good news.

Likewise UK post-punk four-piece Savages revealed their place on the bill back in May, with drummer Fay Milton telling interviewers “I don’t know if our festival has been announced actually, but I’ve been to the festival before – it should be good.” The band recently performed at the inaugural US Laneway event in Detroit.

A relative newcomer to the Australian festival scene, Laneway began in Caledonian Lane in Melbourne in 2004, and has quickly ascended above the boutique festival landscape to become something of an institution, with 2013 seeing the event expand overseas. As esteem and critical approval increased, so did the size of the names on the lineups, with past Laneway events playing host to The National, Sigur Ros, Bat For Lashes, M83, and Deerhunter, just to name a few.

Laneway Festival 2014 will kick off Saturday, 25th January at The Meadow, Gardens By The Bay in Singapore, before crossing over to Aukland, New Zealand, then returning home for its Australian run, starting in Brisbane at RNA, Fortitude Valley on Friday, 31st January.
