Soundwave Third Lineup Announcement Details

The second lineup announcement for Soundwave Festival 2014 has been revealed, leaving a legion of happy punters, who’ll soon be moshing to the likes of Mastodon and HIM, in its wake. Now fans’ sights are sets on the third SW14 announcement and details are already coming through.

An hour before the second announcement went live, festival promoter and Australia’s most powerful industry figure AJ Maddah revealed in a tweet that organisers “will have a few internationals left over for the 3rd announcement!” after approving the art for the second reveal.

Yesterday, when asked by a fan via Twitter about what the third announcement would be composed of, Maddah informed him that it would be “Mostly locals.” This could mean fans will see the reportedly confirmed King Parrot and The Bennies on the third announcement.

When asked about the much-awaited Swedish glam metal group Crashdiet, who were expected for the first announcement and then cancelled after the loss of the group’s manager, Maddah said that “at this point they either be on 3rd announcement or not!”

Meanwhile, Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison‘s new project Scar The Martyr, whom Jordison himself cryptically hinted would be heading down for Soundwave back in September, are merely “a possibility” according to Maddah.

After the unfortunate cancellation of Maddah’s Harvest Festival, many expected Mutemath and Primus to jump ship to SW14, and while Mutemath did indeed make the switch, “Scheduling issues” mean Maddah is still working on bringing Primus Down Under.

No luck for Godsmack fans hoping to see the heavy metal four-piece at Australia’s premiere hard rock festival, with Maddah definitively telling one fan that the band definitely “wont be on SW” and that he “can’t afford to do headline tour.”

Meanwhile it’s a characteristic “nope” for Theory of a Deadman and nu-metal band Spineshank are maligned by the usual visa issues: “Spineshank can’t leave US. I think one of them may be on parole!” Typical.

Fans of Panic! At The Disco however can rejoice. Not only was the band announced as part of the massive second lineup, but Maddah told one curious Panic fanatic that the band will do a Sidewave in either “Sydney or Brisbane.”

“What are the chances of Mastodon/Baroness Sidewave in Melb?” asked one of Maddah’s Twitter acolytes, to which the promoter responded with an enthusiastic, “How good would that be? I’ll give it a go!” and also revealed that a HIM Melbourne Sidewave was “very likely.”

Maddah also stated that “about 70% of bands will do a side show.
