Slipknot may have just given fans their first glimpse at some of the band’s new masks in a teaser for their upcoming North American Prepare For Hell Tour. The clip prominently features frontman Corey Taylor obscured by plastic sheeting and donning what appears to be a grotesque, never-before-seen mask.
In addition to Taylor’s mask, which features a large, Joker-style Chelsea Grin cut across the mouth, short flashes in the video feature a stencil-style image of the mask traditionally belonging to guitarist Mick Thomson and what fans have speculated is percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan‘s new mask.
Readers can check out isolated screenshots of the three masks in the gallery below. The band have typically unveiled new masks with every album cycle, with their All Hope Is Gone-era masks praised as some of the band’s creepiest and most intricate yet, though not every mask was drastically changed.
Having recently unveiled the details of their long-awaited fifth album, .5: The Gray Chapter, Slipknot are currently gearing up to hit the road with their new North American tour and a series of Knotfest dates, before they make their way Down Under to headline the 2015 instalment of Soundwave Festival.
Though .5: The Gray Chapter is slated for release Friday, 17th October, if Aussie fans are looking to hear it live, they’ll have to get tickets to Soundwave. Festival promoter AJ Maddah confirmed last month that Slipknot, fellow headliners Faith No More, and “a few others” will be exclusive to the festival.
