Sick Puppies Split With Frontman Shimon Moore

Sick Puppies’ frontman, guitarist and co-founder Shimon Moore has parted ways with the band and is pursuing other endeavours, according to a statement released by remaining members Emma Anzai and Mark Goodwin.

Posted to Facebook, the statement somewhat glosses over Moore’s departure and instead focuses on the future of the Sydney hard rock band, noting that, “Sick Puppies are undergoing some exciting changes and evolving.”

In the statement Anzai and Goodwin say they will continue on without Moore and begin the process of auditioning potential new vocalists. The duo say they are “currently in the studio writing material for our upcoming studio album”, which will be the follow-up to last year’s LP Connect.

The pair write that although they are currently without a singer, Sick Puppies’ “passion and determination to create and share our music is stronger than ever.” Goodwin and Anzai remain optimistic about the future of the band and ask fans to stick by Sick Puppies during this transitional period. “We cannot wait for Sick Puppies’ next chapter to unfold and for you all to be part of it.”

Obviously whenever an act loses a member as crucial as a singer, it’s a blow to both the band and their fans. Recently we saw Northlane handle the split with their frontman by holding public auditions and having finalists cover and reinterpret their songs.

We’re yet to see how Sick Puppies will go about replacing Moore or hear from the former Sick Puppies’ frontman as to whether his new endeavours will be a solo project or a new band.
