Read Kanye West’s Poem About McDonald’s From Frank Ocean’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ Zine

Frank Ocean finally released his new album Blonde (previously Boys Don’t Cry) over the weekend, and with it came a full-colour zine featuring a poem by Kanye West about the fast food monolith that is McDonald’s.

Yeezy’s poem-slash-rap verse appears to use McDonald’s food items as a metaphor for greater cultural and political issues, we think, though the lyrics are fairly arbitrary when taken alone. Here’s the full thing, as transcribed by Billboard:

“McDonald’s man / McDonald’s man / The French fries had a plan / The French fries had a plan / The salad bar and the ketchup made a band / Cus the French Fries had a plan / The French fries had a plan / McDonald’s man / McDonald’s / I know them French fries have a plan / I know them French fries have a plan / The cheeseburger and the shakes formed a band / To overthrow the French fries plan / I always knew them French fries was evil man / Smelling all good and shit / I don’t trust no food that smells that good man / I don’t trust it / I just can’t / McDonald’s man / McDonald’s man / McDonald’s, man / Them French fries look good tho / I knew the Diet Coke was jealous of the fries / I knew the McNuggets was jealous of the fries / Even the McRib was jealous of the fries / I could see it through his artificial meat eyes / And he only be there some of the time / Everybody was jealous of them French fries / Except for that one special guy / That smooth apple pie.”

Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry  zine was distributed for free at a series of pop-up stores in the US and UK, and contains an enviable list of contributors including Lil B, Wolfgang Tillmans and Tom Sachs.

The Zine also featured an ‘album contributors’ section; revealing the incredible full list of everyone Ocean collaborated with on Blonde. The list includes Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 2000, Tyler, The Creator, The Beatles David Bowie, Beyonce, Pharrell Williams and more.

Along with Blond and the Boys Don’t Cry zine, our man Frank also released a completely separate, fairly experimental visual album called Endless.
