Radiohead Encouraged Fans To Film Their Show On Periscope

Radiohead are consistently surprising by going completely against what everyone expects them to do, which is why it should come as no surprise that they’re actually all for people whipping their phones out at gigs.

Everyone from Chet Faker to Jack White have asked fans to put away their phones at gigs but Radiohead are encouraging and enabling it by asking fans to film portions of their show and put it on live video streaming platform Periscope.

As reported by Pitchfork, before their show at Iceland’s Secret Solstice, the band distributed WiFi codes to punters through the twitter account @doorisnowclosed. They also advertised it through their site W.A.S.T.E. Central asking fans to take some vids.

It seems it worked too as there are quite a few Periscope streams from the night still floating around which you can watch below. As far as we know, this is the first show they have done this for.

Given that Radiohead are yet to announce any Australian dates in support of their latest album A Moon Shaped Pool, this is the closest you’re going to get to the action for a little while.
