Queens Of The Stone Age To Record New Album This Year

Following on from frontman Josh Homme dropping the news that Queens of the Stone Age are gearing up for a new LP, guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen now confirmed the band are going to start recording a new album by the end of the year.

Appearing on 2 Hours With Matt Pinfield Troy revealed that while they haven’t gotten into the studio yet, they are in writing mode. “We’ve already started talking about what we’re gonna do next for the next Queens record,” he said.

Adding that “there’s tons of ideas that are bouncing around” he then let drop that the band are “going to do something before the end of the year, as far as recording goes.”

Van Leeuwen said the band are excited to be working on new material again, although they aren’t going to try and live up to the scope and size of 2013’s …Like Clockwork.

“We’re excited to get back together to follow-up …Like Clockwork,’ which was a really, really big record for us, personally. It was a big record for us ’cause it was the hardest record to make. And we’re trying to not do that again. We just want to keep things simpler and try that, I guess.”

Van Leeuwen also mentioned he has had to cancel some upcoming shows with Gone Is Gone, his side project and Mastodon/QOTSA supergroup, which may or may not have something to do with the new QOTSA album.

Colour us excited.
