One Of Europe’s Biggest Record Collectors Is Selling Off Some Of Its Amazing Catalogue

Radio France, one of Europe’s biggest vinyl collectors, is set to sell off part of its 1.5 million strong collection.

The station has been collecting vinyl since it was founded over four decades ago and has unsurprisingly worked up a very extensive collection which is housed near Porte d’Aubervilliers in Paris.

Vinyl enthusiasts will no doubt be frothing at the chance to get their hands on some of the most interesting records around and by the sounds of it they have a pretty amazing catalogue.

“This is not a dead collection. It is alive and well, is used every day, and is affiliated to a music platform that allows its distribution,” Marc Meret, the deputy director of documentation and head of the Radio France discography, told Trax.

It’s a diverse collection too with Meret saying, “We prefer no style.” There will be jazz, classical, rock and electronic records all up for grabs in the auction.

The first auction will take place in Paris (cheeky trip anyone?) on 19th June and will see the station 5,000 records with further auctions expected to follow.
