Prepare your ears, because Aussie alt-rock royals Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are releasing a brand new album this September.
But there’s a twist: you’ll have to prepare your eyes too, because the new LP will be premiering as a concert film.
That’s right. According to the website of Los Angeles art house chain Laemmle Theatre, the new Bad Seeds flick will make its debut on September 8th, and – “contrary to usual practice” – the film screening will be the first time “anyone anywhere will be able to hear and experience the songs”.
The theatre adds that the band’s “immersive but also elegant performance film” will feature “black and white, color and 3-D” footage, while the style will apparently reflect the “intimacy and starkness” of their mysterious new record, which will then be released in full on September 9th.
We’re talking no single releases, the whooole damn thing.
And while the listing makes no mention of a title for either the album or the film, the imminent record will nonetheless serve as a follow-up to 2013’s ridic-umazing Push the Sky Away.
We’ll keep you guys posted if there’s any word of a premiere screening happening here in Australia, which – c’mon – there bloody well better be.
