New York City Declares January 20 Officially David Bowie Day

In the seemingly endless effort to out do each other in the ever escalating David Bowie tribute market (settle down Kanye), New York City has gone one bigger than anyone else, declaring January 20 as David Bowie Day – which thanks to timezones is today in the US.

The news was announced via Bowie’s Facebook page today, with NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio set to proclaim it officially at the close of the final performance of the Bowie conceived and co produced stage show Lazarus.

Just part of the global Bowie-mania gripping the globe, and following from his final album Blackstar earning him his first US No.1 album, let’s raise a glass to honour him on his special day (albeit technically in the past).
