A brand-new Americana-themed festival is making its way to Victoria this October with the announcement of the inaugural Out On The Weekend, a celebration of Americana, country and blues music, food and booze held on the water at Seaworks, Williamstown.
Named after the Neil Young track from his 1972 album Harvest, Out On The Weekend, explains promoter Brian “BT” Taranto of Love Police, was born from his desire to create an event that celebrates Americana sounds and tastes.
Headlining the lineup for its inaugural year is Nashville-based country star Justin Townes Earle, son of Grammy award winning American singer and songwriter Steve Earle. Also featured on the bill is the man widely lauded as one of Australia’s great entertainers, Henry Wagons.
Acclaimed American singer and songwriter Ryan Bingham will also appear at Out On The Weekend. He is most noted for his work with acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett on the soundtrack for the 2009 film Crazy Heart, having co-penned and performed the film’s Oscar and Grammy winning theme song The Weary Kind.
Music of the mouth-watering kind will be provided by Sydney chefs, Ben Milgate & Elvis Abrahanowicz of Porteño/Bodega fame and Raph Rashid – Melbourne’s Street Food King of Beatbox Kitchen, Taco Truck and All Day Donuts.
