Neil Finn Says His Spot In Fleetwood Mac Is “Not At All” Temporary

Neil Finn has asserted himself as a permanent member of Fleetwood Mac, following the departure of Lindsey Buckingham, saying that he is “not at all” a temporary member of the band.

Speaking with CBS News, the band have addressed the shocking departure of Buckingham as well as the arrival of Neil Finn (frontman of Crowded House) and Mike Campbell, former lead guitarist of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Neither Neil Finn nor Mike Campbell consider their position in the band to be temporary. As a matter of fact, Finn was in his hometown of Auckland when he got the life-changing call.

“I just had this kind of big grin on my face ’cause it’s a call you never expect to get,” Finn said.

On the departure of Buckingham, however, Mick Fleetwood said, “It became just a huge impasse and hit a brick wall, where we decided that we had to part company.”

CBS reporter Anthony Mason then asked, “Was Lindsey effectively fired?”

“Well, we don’t use that word because I think it’s ugly,” Fleetwood responded.

“And it’s not a question that Lindsey has huge amounts of respect and kudos to what he’s done within the ranks of Fleetwood Mac and always will. But it’s like a marriage that came to an end and there are reasons why… But as a band we needed to move on.”

The new-look Fleetwood Mac have just announced a 2018-2019 North American and Canadian tour.
