MS MR To Release Debut Album Next Year

MS MR have announced that their debut LP will be out in May 2013. The news has come from DYI, who report that fans can expect a new single titled Fantasy in March of next year, followed by an album a couple of months later.
MS MR have been very active as of late, offering fans a free download of the New York duo’s track Dark Doo Woop remixed by Australian artist Chet Faker and announcing sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne while in Australia for next year’s St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.
In a recent Q&A the rapidly rising pair touched on whether releasing EP Candy Bar Creep Show via Tumblr was done with the intention of circumnavigating their immediate surroundings and why their music has proven so popular with Australian fans.
“That wasn’t something we consciously thought about [releasing the EP via Tumblr]. New York has been a huge influence on the music and our identity and we hope we’ll always be associated with the city, but we recognise that one of the primary gifts of the Internet is the freedom for music to be unbound by a geographic location. It’s amazing and liberating to have a platform that allows us to share our music with an audience from all over the world.”
“Honestly, we’re not quite sure ourselves [why Australian have reacted to strongly to MS MR]. All we can say is that Australia has a wonderful reputation for being very open to new music (which certainly stems in part from the great programming on triple j – they’ve been great early supporters of ours). We have no idea why the music seems to be connecting so well, but ultimately we’re just grateful for the attention we’re receiving and are really looking forward to connecting with people face-to-face!”
