Melbourne Music Week 2013 Drops First Lineup Announcement

Melbourne Music Week 2013 has officially got the ball rolling today with the announcement of the first round of artists hitting up Melbourne for a glorious week of live music. Much like previous years, organisers have delivered a forward-thinking lineup which features exclusive collaborations and artists both native and international.

As per the first announcement, the main attraction for MMW 2013 is the fusion of Germany’s Pantha Du Prince with Norwegian outfit The Bell Laboratory for a one-off performance taking place on Monday, 18th November.

The international flavour doesn’t stop there with Nosaj Thing, Chris Cohen, Sonny & The Sunsets, Jonwayne and Personal And The Pizzas all making the trip from the US, The Bats crossing the ditch from New Zealand and the “godfather of glitch” Oval trekking from Germany.

Of course the local flavour is a huge component of MMW and 2013 will be no different. Yacht Club DJs, Gold Fields, Northeast Party House, Indian Summer, Acolyte, City Calm Down, SNKDKTL DJs and Neon Love (performing a special one-off reunion) will all be in attendance to celebrate I OH YOU’s 4th birthday bash at Flagstaff train station.

Modular has also set up base camp, showcasing the talents of Canyons, Daniel Boyd, Roland Tings, Standish/Carlyon, Andras Fox, Shining Bird and Club Mod DJs for their Label Series.

The success of pop-up stages in years past has left organisers with no option but to keep going with the idea. The flagship stage for 2014 will be The Residence, which will pop up on the banks of Birrarung Marr and act as an HQ for markets, food, entertainment and the all important video mapping and light installations.

The 9 days and 10 nights of MMW is curated by 18 industry figures – everyone from record label peeps, through to record stores owners and everything in between. The full MMW 2013 lineup can be expected to drop Thursday, 3rd October. Limited pre-sale tickets are available right now.
