Mark Hoppus Has A Timeframe For Blink-182's New Album

Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus has offered fans an approximate timeframe for when they can expect the band’s long-awaited seventh studio album. Hoppus’ comments come shortly after guitarist Tom DeLonge took to Instagram to assure fans that a new album was on its way.

“New Blink-182 album will commence recording and writing soon after we finish the touring this summer and we plan to have it out as soon as possible,” says Hoppus in an audio clip uploaded to the fledgling voice-recording app Melt and shared via the bassist’s personal Twitter account.

The band’s current US summer tour also includes several dates in the UK and Europe in August, however, as Property of Zack note, DeLonge’s project Angels & Airwaves are scheduled to tour the US during their autumn, which could push recording a new Blink album back until September.

Last week, DeLonge reassured fans that a new album was still a priority for the band and apologised for the delay. Sharing an image of the three band members as teens, DeLonge added the caption, “Rehearsals start today… And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink.”

A follow-up to 2011's Neighborhoods has gone through several expected release times and delays. The band had previously announced that they were working on new material and at one point expected to have a new album out before their appearance at the Reading and Leeds festivals.
