CHECK OUT THE LATEST
M.I.A. has dropped her highly anticipated first single from her upcoming fourth studio album, Matangi, revealing the track on Zane Lowe‘s BBC Radio 1 show last night in the UK, and the glitchy, political track has been worth the wait.
The 37-year-old said that making Matangi has not been easy, telling Lowe this could be her last attempt at putting out music through a major label:
“It’s just one of those things where I’ve given up at this point. I was literally going to start putting out records from my bedroom. This was my last stab at it- I’m going to hand it in and wait for it to go out the way albums go out. If I didn’t get it out right now, I would’ve definitely exploded.”
The follow-up to 2010's Maya was originally scheduled for release at the end of last year, but the British performer has been battling her record label, with Interscope telling her the music was “too positive”. Release dates of 31st January, 2013 and later, 15th April, 2013 were also set and then came and went with no new album.
No rush, M.I.A. – we’re ready when you’re ready. In the meantime, give Bring The Noize a listen and prepare to have a bit of an angry boogie in your living room. Then go and have a listen to the Matangi preview mix that was dropped back in March if you need a little more to tide you over.
