The remaining members of Nirvana — drummer Dave Grohl, bass player Krist Novoselic, and guitarist Pat Smear — will reportedly play with a medley of female artists for their performance at the imminent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre.
According to local outlet Cleveland.com, who have two reporters on site at the Barclays Centre, the three surviving members of the legendary grunge outfit will perform with names including rock legend Joan Jett, New Zealand superstar Lorde, and avant-pop singer-songwriter St Vincent.
Cleveland.com have confirmed that the Digital Witness singer rehearsed with Nirvana earlier in the day and according to her official Twitter channel, a performance set for Cleveland has been rescheduled, reportedly to allow for her attendance at the Rock Hall’s induction ceremony.
Following speculation over who would front a regrouped Nirvana sans the late Kurt Cobain, fans picked Joan Jett after a cryptic photo was shared to the Foo Fighters Facebook page depicting Jett’s sticker-covered guitar sitting between Pat Smear‘s Stratocaster and Krist Novoselic’s bass.
Earlier this morning, audio of what was reportedly Joan Jett rehearsing with Nirvana on the band’s classic single Smells Like Teen Spirit was posted by Alternative Nation, whose reporter was filming video in the halls of the Barclays Centre. The clip was later removed by Alternative Nation.
