Queens Of The Stone Age “Absolutely” Ready To Record New LP This Year

The critical acclaim and audience love afforded to the Queens Of The Stone Age since the release of …Like Clockwork last June has provided the band with more than enough momentum to get going on another album soon says frontman Josh Homme, telling Rolling Stone they’re “absolutely” ready to get cracking on a follow up.

“We have more than enough songs. We’re booked til September, but after that we plan to jump in the studio and get going,” he told the magazine. The band has been consistently touring since the release of Clockwork, playing sold-out shows around the world and are soon to embark on a March 2014 co-headlining tour here in Oz with Nine Inch Nails.

Queens Of The Stone Age have also been occupied filming their tri-level interactive virtual art installation video for The Vampyre Of Time And Memory, ringing in the new year with an hour long debut set on the PBS showcase Austin City Limits and making up with Jay Z.

Homme says they have no plans on slowing down that schedule in 2014, but said it’s the studio where the band find themselves really thriving these days. “When it’s time to make music, that’s about getting lost for me,” he said. “To be a control freak is not half as good as being a freak who’s casually in control. You’re feeling around in the dark for something that feels good. As long as you’re not in an orgy, that can be an amazing moment.”
