Here’s something to make your day, Frank Ocean fans – a previously unreleased track from the singer has surfaced online. Ocean, who received a standing ovation from everyone except Chris Brown for his Grammy win earlier this month, recorded a track called Eyes Like Sky during the sessions for his debut album Channel Orange.
The track is reported by Consequence Of Sound as an “acoustic strummer” in which Ocean is “exploring his spiritual side”. On first listen, you can understand why it may have been cut – the track would perhaps sit more comfortably next to One Direction rather than soulful tracks like Lost or Thinkin About You – but the lyrics stil display the explorative depth that Ocean is famous for.
As previously reported, Ocean is currently plotting his second album and is “10 or 11 tracks” into the record. He is expected to again work with producer Om’Mas Keith, who reckons Ocean is going to be at the peak of his powers when he hits the studio.
“Where I left with him at the end of recording Channel Orange, he was epic,” Keith said. “I can only imagine where he’s at now. I think his prowess will only grow as the years go past. He’s better off now than he was a year ago creatively, harmonically, sonically and musically.”
Ocean also recently collaborated with Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan on a song which is expected to end up on Ocean’s new album.
