The vehicular romp saw the nu metal legends team up with The Hangover‘s Kim Jeong to become ‘Lin-Ken-Park’ and belt out some tunes, but was shelved indefinitely after Bennington died of suicide less than a week later.
At the time, Carpool Karaoke creator James Corden released a statement promising to abide by the Bennington family’s wishes regarding if (and when) the episode would ever see the light of day, telling the Associated Press:
“We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled.
“We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don’t think there’s any other way we could deal with it really.”
The episode, which was filmed for the Apple Music spinoff of Carpool Karaoke, is now expected to be released on Friday, 13th October Australian time.
The episode will arrive as Linkin Park continue planning for an upcoming tribute show in Bennington’s name, which will feature members of bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182, Korn, System Of A Down and Avenged Sevenfold.
Last month, Bennington’s wife Talinda shared a candid home video of the singer, also taken just days before his death.
