Lily Allen Says Half-Done ‘Sheezus’ Follow-Up Could Be Her Last Album

UK pop mainstay Lily Allen has revealed that she has already half-completed the follow-up to her recently released third album Sheezus, and has confessed that she’s not sure if her career will extend past the untitled fourth album, saying the Sheezus follow-up could likely be her last record.

Speaking recently to Q magazine, Allen said, “I’m already halfway through a fourth album. Whether I can stretch to a fifth, I don’t know.” Allen said that she is timing the end of her singing career to when her children reach school-age, when she will shift to working on other projects like musicals.

“When my kids start school I want to really be there. This was a little pocket of time I had to do this,” Allen explained, via Gigwise. “One last hurrah and then I want to write musicals and songs for other people. I’m already halfway through a fourth album. Whether I can stretch to a fifth, I don’t know.”

In the same interview, Allen touched on the controversy that surrounded the video for her comeback single Hard Out Here, saying (via Gigwise), “I’ve never apologised for it… because I don’t think I did anything wrong. People on Twitter always say it’s not the intent, it’s the impact. Well, that’s bullshit.”

“My whole make-up is about bringing inequality and injustice to the forefront, so when people said I was racist I was like, ‘Noooo, that’s not me’, I thought, ‘Oh my God, is it worth it?’ But of course it is.” Allen will soon be in the country when she performs as part of Splendour In The Grass 2014.
