CHECK OUT THE LATEST
The latest in the seemingly endless wave of artist sideshows for Splendour In The Grass 2013 has just been announced, with Laura Marling locking in a series of intimate all-ages gigs on a tour that will encompass Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Seemingly to counteract the big-stage festival vibe of SITG, Laura has chosen to embrace a quality-over-quantity atmosphere for her sideshows, with the chosen venue for each city being a church. Obviously, these places are built with acoustics in mind, and one can imagine Laura’s stripped-back, delicate folky sounds reverberating large throughout locations like St Stephens in Sydney.
Laura’s latest album Once I Was An Eagle is just around the corner, due for release locally on 24th May, and it’s already garnering rave reviews in her home country, with Q Magazine describing the affair as “beautiful, heartfelt, searching and sublime”. Can’t argue with that! We’re sure to hear a selection of brand-new tunes from that album on this tour, like the newly released Master Hunter (below), alongside those from her fantastic debut Alas I Cannot Swim and sophomore favourite I Speak Because I Can.
