Kings Of Leon’s ‘Youthful’ New Album Expected In September

Kings Of Leon are set to release their highly-anticipated follow-up to 2011's Come Around Sundown in September, with an exact date TBC.

As bass player Jared Followill explained the currently-untitled record is on track for a September release, with recording all but done and sequencing currently taking place. He reckons it’s going to be a pretty ‘youthful’-sounding record reminiscent of two previous studio efforts Youth & Young Manhood and Because Of The Times:

“I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I’m amazed how youthful it sounds… It’s like a mix of Youth & Young Manhood and Because Of The Times.”

Followill famously tweeted that he was too drunk to do the sequencing on the new album last month after smashing down plenty of red wine that evening so, given the September deadline, it probably gives him room to have a few more bevvies on the job if he so desires.

Kings Of Leon have a number of European festivals locked in to promote the album in the build-up to its release including V Festival in the UK, Rock Werchter in Belgium and Bilbao BBK Live in Spain. It might be a long shot, or too early to speculate, but whatever – Big Day Out 2014, anybody?
