King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Dish The Deets On Their “Jazzy” New Album ‘Sketches Of Brunswick Ea

The most prolific band that ever was, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, have spilled more beans on their bonkers four-album release plan for 2017.

After already dropping two psych opuses in Flying Microtonal Banana and the spoken-word-fuelled Murder Of The Universe this year, the seven-headed Gizz monster have now revealed that their next imminent LP will be a collaboration with Mild High Club frontman Alexander Brettin dubbed Sketches Of Brunswick East.

“[Mild High Club] came over and played Gizzfest with us in December and [Alex] just stayed at my house for a few weeks,” frontman Stu Mackenzie confirms to triple j. “We were sending each other these really rough, vague ideas before that… usually just a chord progression or a melody.”

They ended up punching about 15 different recordings, which Stu describes as “These interesting, chilled, jazzy, loose improvised pieces. Then we spent up until a month ago going back and forward, changing them, cutting things out… finished the record that way.”

The band have confirmed that the LP is 100% minted and will drop “hopefully very soon”, but Gizzheads shouldn’t hold out for a release date.

“We’re just gonna drop it at any point. It’s just coming out, straight up,” drummer Eric Moore says.

Brace for imminent Gizz, people.

It comes after the band caught up for beers with their new number #1 fan, Baby Driver director Edgar Wright, and chatted the possibility of a collab.
