Jack White Reckons The White Stripes’ Music Was Basically “Jack White Solo”

Jack White has denied the possibility of a White Stripes reunion, telling fans how the band was similar to what he’s doing right now.

The White Stripes, which he was in with drummer Meg White, performed together last nine years ago and it seems we’re going to be waiting a lot longer for them to come back together, if they ever do.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, he was asked whether he ever sets aside songs for The White Stripes.

“That doesn’t really happen too much,” he replied.

That’s because he thinks that his solo work and White Stripes music are very closely aligned.

“I’m not telling people what to think about The White Stripes, They can think whatever they want about it. But there is a case to be made that in a lot of ways, The White Stripes is Jack White solo. In a lot of ways,” he said.

“There’s only two people in the band. I was writing and producing and conducting. The melodies are coming from one person, the rhythm is coming from Meg.”

He was then asked whether there was any possibility in the pair ever reuniting and he replied, “I highly doubt, that would ever be a thing.”

White is due to release his latest solo album Boarding House Reach on 23rd March. So far he’s dropped three songs from the record, the latest being ‘Over And Over And Over’.
