Jack White Is Helping Iggy Pop Release A Book About The Stooges

Godfather of punk Iggy Pop will release a book about the life of his legendary band The Stooges this year, and we bet he has some stories to tell.

The book, titled Total Chaos, is written by Jeff Gold and Johan Kugelberg from lengthy interviews with Pop about the band. Jack White, who has spoken of his love of The Stooges and their influence on him as a musician, will release the book through the publishing arm of his record label Third Man.

Alongside Iggy Pop’s stories, Total Chaos will include contributions from White himself, as well as rock superstars Joan Jett and The Smiths’ Johnny Marr among others.

The Stooges formed in Michigan in 1967 and are widely regarded as proto-punk pioneers. They disbanded at a peak of rock in 1974 reunited after an odd 30 years in 2003.

Iggy Pop is a suitable mouthpiece for The Stooges’ story, widely known for his frontman charm and biting wit, within and outside of the music world. He has been in the public eye more recently with this year’s album Post Pop Depression, recorded with QOTSA frontman Josh Homme.
