Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has announced that she will be performing her first ever Australian headline shows when she returns to her home country to support Beyonce on the diva’s ‘Mrs Carter’ world tour. Having moved to the States early in her career, this will be the first chance Aussie fans get to see Azalea on stage.
Hailing from Mullumbimby in northern New South Wales, Azalea answered the call of fame and ran away to the US at age 15, with dreams of being a hip hop star. Fast-forward to 2013 and she’s the rap game’s it-girl, with profiles in Miss Vogue, Interview, Complex, and Oyster, and is slowly making her name in the international fashion scene, with campaigns for Levi’s and House of Holland.
Azaela knows how to make heads turn with her confronting, no-holds-barred style on the mic and in her notoriously open-book interviews. Her most recent single, Change Your Life, a collaboration with hip hop superstar T.I. has seen her notoriety grow even further, with the track amassing over 4 million hits on YouTube. Readers can check out the steamy clip for themselves, below.
To coincide with her much-awaited support slots for Mrs Carter herself, Iggy will be headlining three dates along the East Coast at Trak Live Lounge, The Arena, and The Metro respectively. Voted one of XXL‘s Top 10 Freshman of 2012 and with a steady stream of bumping singles to her name, including Work and Bounce, these Australian dates may see this 23-year-old rap star ascend to the top of the hip hop game.
