A ridicumazing list of musicians have teamed up for a new compilation album honouring the 10th anniversary of Tegan And Sara‘s groundbreaking LP The Con.
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, Grimes, Ryan Adams, City And Colour, Ryan Adams, Chvrches, PVRIS, Cyndi Lauper and HEAPS more have wrapped their unique pipes around tracks from the iconic duo’s 2007 album for the new The Con X: Covers project, with all proceeds going to a very important cause.
“From day one we wanted the proceeds to go to our newly-launched Tegan and Sara Foundation, which raises money for self-identified women and girls in the LGBTQ community,” Tegan And Sara explain.
“With that intention set, we asked 14 artists who were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves to each cover a song from The Con. We encouraged each artist to approach the song they were covering in any fashion they saw fit.
“Their inspiration could come from the original record or The Con Demos, our first home recordings that were released after The Con came out. All the artists agreed to donate their time and energy to the project and their labels all agreed to waive their fees as well.”
And ‘sif that wasn’t enough, the new compilation also sees the previously unreleased Tegan and Sara track ‘Miami Still’ see the light of day.
Hear that below, alongside pop punk kween Hayley Williams’ rendition of ‘Nineteen’, City and Colour’s crack at ‘Hop A Plane’, Grimes & Hana as Trashique covering ‘Dark Come Soon’, Chvrches doing ‘Call It Off’ and more of the LP’s highlights.
In other cover album news, Aussie bands Northlane, The Amity Affliction, Tonight Alive & more have teamed up for their own Silverchair tribute LP Spawn (Again).
