The New York Times‘ T Magazine noted that Nicks invited the Haim sisters, Este (28), Danielle (25) and Alana (22), to her home in order to discuss life and muse over each other’s music.
Haim and Nicks’ piano-led performance of Rhiannon (below) is a haunting, darker-sounding version of the original, which was first released in 1975. The Haim sisters can be heard providing backing vocals for Nicks in the recording. A definite once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for two acclaimed acts to perform together.
The dialogue taken from Nicks’ time with Haim is nothing short of intriguing as well, with the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman comparing Haim to her very own backing vocalists. “We’re not different than you three. Sharon and Lori and I are three, and we are a unit that is very, very strong,” Nicks said. “We found people who wouldn’t tell us to sit on the couch and be good little girls,” Alana added, to which Este said, “We know what we want. We’re like a Hydra.”
At the end of their time together, Nicks reportedly gave the Haim sisters gold chains with gold moon pendants, and pronounced them “sisters of the moon”. “You’ve just become sisters. You’re double sisters,” Nicks told them.
