Hear Flume’s Dizzying New Remix Of Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down’

Aussie electronic wonder Flume has given Sam Smith a digital makeover. The artist, otherwise known as Harley Edward Streten, has worked his remixing wizardry on Smith’s mournful love ballad Lay Me Down, and the results are unsurprisingly spellbinding.

“I’ve spent the last few months in the studio working on a bunch of new material, but wanted to share this first, a remix of SAM SMITH Lay Me Down,” Flume posted on his official Facebook page. “…I can’t wait to play some of this new stuff to you!”

The sorrowful piano hymn takes on new life after getting the Flume treatment, which sees it reinvigorated with a cacophony of synth layers, dizzying electro bursts and a brand-new pulsing beat.

Flume, who was recently announced on the lineup for the monster international Bonnaroo Festival, will play his only Australian shows for 2015 at Sydney’s Vivid Live Festival.

The announcement follows the electronic wonder’s recent decision to depart What So Not, his collaborative project with Sydney producer Emoh Instead.
