Hear Dave Grohl’s Long-Lost Solo Track ‘Hooker On The Street’

A previously unheard solo track written by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has made its debut during the latest episode of his band’s HBO series, Sonic Highways. The track, titled Hooker On The Street, has now made its way online, and is available to stream in all its weirdo Grohl glory, below.

“Hooker / On the street / Movin’ your feet / Hooker / Yeah, yeah, yeah,” an uncharacteristically un-Grohl-sounding voice can be heard singing on the rockin’ funk-infused track, before the lyrics mention something about going to a clinic to get “cream”. The song’s backing vocals certainly sound a lot more like those belonging to Mr. Grohl, but the guitar work is definite Grohl material.

As Consequence Of Sound have noted, Hooker On The Street appeared in the most recent Sonic Highways episode, which focused on the musical history of Seattle, Washington. In the episode, producer Barrett Jones claims that Grohl wrote upwards of 40 solo songs during his time with Nirvana.

Grohl also recalled in the episode that the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was very pleased to hear he was recording solo material at the time, and gave them his blessing.

According to Alternative Nation, a clip of another Grohl song titled Watered It Down also appeared in the most recent Sonic Highways episode, as well as a snippet of a metal song recorded by Grohl.

Foo Fighters released their eighth studio album, also titled Sonic Highways, in November. Catch Hooker On The Street in full, below.
