Grand Salvo Added To AMP Shortlist

The Coopers AMP (Australian Music Prize) have announced the fourth entrant on their coveted shortlist. Melbourne musician Grand Salvo has made the cut behind his 2012 concept album Slay Me In My Sleep. Grand Salvo joins an impressive shortlist that includes Jess Ribeiro & The Bone Collectors for their debut My Little River and Urthboy for Smokey’s Haunt. Hermitude was the first to make the shortlist as their album HyperParadise continues to impress.

Whittled down from AMP’s ‘longlist‘, which totalled 71 Australian acts, the shortlist will only comprise of 9 skilled musicians and bands. All shortlist entrants will convene on Friday, 1st February in Melbourne’s Federation Square for Amp Alive. The free event, put on by The Coopers Amp, will be hosted by Clare Bowditch and Kevin Mitchell. The event will feature performances from shortlist nominees Hermitude as well as other acts to be announced, and see the $30,000 prize awarded to the most outstanding Australian album of the year.

The sixth album from Grand Salvo (real name Paddy Mann) is Slay Me In My Sleep, a tale of love between a delinquent boy and a elderly woman told through a tangle of memories and time.
