Gotye Wins Album Of The Year At The 2012 Aria Awards

It was stiff competition at this year’s ARIA Awards, given the solid run of amazing releases that we’ve been experiencing in recent months. But word has come through, and the internationally praised Gotye has been crowned supreme ruler of Australian music for 2012.

Now someone that we know very well (see what I did there?) Gotye’s outrageously successful album Making Mirrors will forever be known from this point on as the outrageously successful award-winning album Making Mirrors.

To win the award for Album of the Year, Gotye knocked out 360 and double-super-mega-platinum album Falling and Flying (but don’t feel bad, he scored Best Breakthrough Artist, and ruined it all by swearing); the queen of Australian music Missy Higgins and her album The Ol’ Razzle Dazze; The Jezebels’ critically acclaimed Prisoner; and The Temper Trap’s eponymous album, also released this year.
